About Baby Name Combiner
We make one free tool: a baby name combiner that blends two names into new ones, shows you exactly how it did it, and tells you honestly what is real and what is new.
Why we built it
Choosing a baby name is personal, and a lot of name websites make it harder than it needs to be. They bury you in endless lists, attach confident “meanings” to names that were made up last year, and ask you to sign up before you can try anything.
Baby Name Combiner starts from the names you already have. Enter the mother’s and father’s names, or any two names you love, and the tool builds new names from the sounds of both. Every letter is color-coded so you can see where each part came from, and every result is labeled so you always know whether you are looking at a new blend or a name that already exists.
That is the whole site on purpose. One tool, built carefully, with clear rules about what it will and will not claim.
Blends you can explain
Each result shows which letters came from which name, so a blend is never a mystery. Parents can tell the story behind it.
Honest labels
A result is either a “New blend” or an “Established name.” Origins and meanings appear only for established names, and only where sources agree.
Practical controls
Choose a gender style, length, starting letter or naming style. Add a last name to preview the full name and initials.
How the blending works
The method is simple enough to follow by hand, and the tool follows the same steps in a fraction of a second.
- Split. Each name is cut into syllables and letter groups at its natural sound breaks.
- Join. The tool tries many combinations of one piece from each name, in both orders.
- Check the seam. It looks at the point where the pieces meet. A consonant next to a vowel is smooth. Awkward clusters, such as three consonants in a row, are dropped.
- Score. Results are ranked for a comfortable length, an easy ending and a natural rhythm.
- Tune the ending. Your gender style changes only the final sound, so a blend can feel firmer, softer or more neutral.
- Compare. Each blend is checked against a reference list of established names, so you can see when your new name already exists.
These rules are guidelines for English pronunciation. They cannot know how a name sounds in your language or family, which is why we always suggest saying a name aloud before you choose it.
The rules we hold ourselves to
Naming a child is a big decision, so accuracy matters more than sounding impressive.
- We never invent a meaning or an origin. If a blend is new, we say it is new and leave the meaning blank.
- We show a meaning only when sources agree. When reliable sources disagree, the result says “Meaning varies by source” rather than picking a side.
- We label every result. “New blend” and “Established name” are the only two labels, and they mean exactly what they say.
- We respect culture. Naming customs differ between families and regions. When we mention a tradition, we describe it in general terms and encourage you to ask someone in your own community.
- We avoid made-up claims. No invented statistics, no fake testimonials and no pretend experts.
- We fix mistakes quickly. If you find an error, tell us. We check it, correct it and update the page.
Your privacy comes first
The tool runs in your browser. The names you type, the filters you pick and the results you see are processed on your own device and are not sent to our servers or stored by us. Favorites you save stay in your current browser tab and disappear when you close it.
Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use, so we can improve the site. It does not receive the names you enter. Read the details in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Who is behind the site
Baby Name Combiner is written and maintained by an independent editorial and development team. We are not authorities: we are not doctors, lawyers, religious scholars or official naming bodies, and we do not claim to be.
Our content is general information. For religious or cultural naming customs, please ask a trusted elder or community leader. For legal naming rules, check with the office where you will register your child’s name.
How the site is funded
The tool is free to use and there is nothing to buy or register for. In the future we may show advertising or link to products. If that happens, it will be clearly marked, we will update our Privacy Policy first, and it will not change how names are ranked or what we say about them.
What the tool cannot do
Being honest means saying what we do not offer. The tool does not predict how popular a name will be, does not check trademarks, and does not know the naming laws of your country. A blend is a starting point for your own decision, not a recommendation.
